Steelrode's Goliath arrives in South Africa
Steelrode is South Africa's premier steel manufacturer. They have recently elevated their position as steel supply leaders by purchasing a steel slitting machine, Goliath. Steelrode prides itself on being one of the most progressive flat steel business operations in South Africa.
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA, December 25, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Leading steel manufacturer Steelrode is fast becoming top of the game in South Africa. They have recently acquired the mega slitting and rolling machine, Goliath. This leveller is arriving on South African shores early in 2010 and it will signify entry into a new level of technology and mass production for steel supply specialist, Steelrode.
Goliath has been made by Sacma, an Italian manufacturer, and it will be operational in South Africa in May 2010. The enormous machine will be brought to South Africa in April with its final assembly in May next year. As the host country for the World Cup next year, there is a continual need for superior steel products, and reliable productivity is what all construction and building companies require. Steelrode's premium cutting service offering is even more sophisticated with Goliath leveller technology.
With the purchase of Goliath, Steelrode dominate the South African steel manufacturing industry with the latest slitting machinery. The Goliath roll feeding gauge can take up to 16mm thick and 2100 mm wide steel sheeting. The machine has a 13,000 mm stacker, and the rolling mechanisms featured with the Goliath can roll misshapen steel sheets, which means cutting has never been this sophisticated. The machine can cut eight metre lengths with diagonals of plus/minus one mm accuracy, on plates of up to 12 mm thickness.
South African mining and construction companies will welcome the capabilities of this machine, as Steelrode are the only company to have invested in a Goliath. Processed material will be supplied by Steelrode manufacturers to the new Medupi power station in Lephalale, in the Limpopo province. Steelrode manufacture hot-rolled, pickled and oiled, cold-rolled, galvanised, Chromadek, Electrogalv and Galvalum coils with a maximum mass of up to 32,000 kg per coil. Steelrode's factory is able to produce superbly controlled logistics through clear location of the special raw materials input area in conjunction with the centrally-located production-machinery section in the factory, which allows for flow into output bays.
This piece of equipment compliments their existing stock of machinery and gives Steelrode more advantages in the construction and civils industries in South Africa. By far, Steelrode are the leading coil processor in the country already. Steelrode know that in order to keep up the demand for more production of premium steel, the equipment invested in has to be superior in quality in order to produce more.
This advanced machine has an in-line punching system, which means that a punch can be placed anywhere by the Quad Head system, it offers a range of round and slotted holes. A second in-line 40 ton hydraulic press has been made available for customised punching too. Samco has also incorporated a side discharge blank kickoff system, which Steelrode requested especially. The machine punching system can be automatically programmed from AutoCAD drawings too. It has in-line hard stamping and inkjet marking capabilities.
Steelrode is a leading steel supllier centre where quality steel is cut to length and slitting services of steel material can be coiled in bulk. Steelrode have made being the industry leaders a priority by investing in internationally recognised machinery. The most important advantage to having the Goliath is that Steelrode are able to slit thicker gauge material.
